The development of a web-accessed, community education program on invasive plant management such as the successful FireWise Train the Trainer program helps communities, agencies, and nongovernmental organizations share their invasive plant problems with the park patrons and members of their community. The community outreach provides materials to help communities, agencies, and nongovernmental organizations outline the problem of invasive species, how homeowners and landowners can prevent introductions, and use native plants or non-invasive plants as an alternative.
Student Conservation Association (SCA), National Park Service and Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center have teamed up to create a Plantwise Outreach program for SCA interns working at National Parks. Interns are trained to guide interpretive hikes through their national parks teaching about the native vegetation and the impact invasive species are having in that park.
